In Jewish tradition

It often refers to a set event that happens once every year, such as a festival, a pilgrimage, or a sacrifice.

Interpretation. Yearly rites such as Elkanah's trip to Shiloh and the days of Purim in Esther are remembered each year. Tradition holds that repeating them keeps the memory of events alive.
