  2. Breath: "I got my wind back." tree →
  3. Gas in the stomach (polite word). tree →

In the lessons

In science and weather, wind is moving air caused by the Sun heating the Earth unevenly; we measure it with wind vanes and anemometers; wind turbines make electricity (renewable energy). In safety: strong winds can blow down trees; stay inside in a storm. Phrases: wind up, wind down, windy, windmill, wind power, second wind.

Examples

Note

Two words with the same spelling (homographs): "wind" (moving air) says "wind" like "pinned"; "wind" (turn) rhymes with "find", past "wound". Wind power is renewable.

In Jewish tradition

Often a tool of God: the east wind blights the ears of grain, and a wind blows the sea over Egypt's army.

Interpretation. The same word (ruach) also means spirit, and tradition notices that God's wind and God's spirit share a word.
