Maths: usually no clue. «As well» means also, so add the items. A well can give a depth or a store of water to take from. Safety: never lean over an open well.

In Jewish tradition

A well in the Torah is a source of water for people and flocks, often a place for meetings and betrothals. "Well" can also mean in a good way or in good health, as in "all is well," and "well-beloved" in Isaiah means dearly loved.

Interpretation. Tradition remembers the wells of the patriarchs as signs of blessing. Later teachers tell of Miriam's well, which followed Israel in the desert. Isaiah's "well-beloved" with a vineyard is read as God speaking of His love for Israel.
