In Jewish tradition

Here "thrown into the sea" describes God casting the Egyptian army into the Red Sea, in the Song at the Sea. Later books use "thrown down" for altars, walls and judges that are overthrown.

Interpretation. Tradition sees this as the song of deliverance, sung by Moses and Israel and then by Miriam, and it is recited in daily prayer and on the seventh day of Passover.
