tabernacle
noun
In Jewish tradition
It is the Mishkan, a tent of boards, curtains and coverings that Moses and the Israelites built. God's presence rested there, and it held the ark, table and altar. The Psalms also use "tabernacle" for God's dwelling at Shiloh and Zion, and for God's house where the faithful hope to stay.
Interpretation. Tradition sees the Tabernacle as God dwelling among his people, from the verse "let them make Me a sanctuary, that I may dwell among them." Its building is described in great detail. The Psalms' tabernacle is read as the Temple and as the place near God.
