In Jewish tradition

It is the past of "rise" here, often in "rose up," meaning to get up and begin something, including early in the morning. It is also a flower: in the Song of Songs "a rose of Sharon" is a flower of the plain.

Interpretation. The rabbis noticed that Abraham "rose early" to do God's commands, and took it as a sign of eagerness. The tradition reads the "rose of Sharon" in the Song of Songs as a name for Israel, loved by God.
