In the lessons

In maths: amounts of ingredients for a dish; problems double, halve or scale a recipe; fractions of cups. In science: following steps in order, measuring carefully. In everyday life: cookbooks, family recipes, recipes for a number of servings. In stories: a secret recipe.

Examples

Note

A recipe gives amounts per batch, a rate: total = amount per recipe × number of recipes. Trap: when making more or fewer servings, every ingredient changes by the same factor. Spelling: recipe (three syllables: RES-i-pee). Do not confuse with receipt (a paper showing what you paid).
