In Jewish tradition
In the Prophets, people make ready chariots, shields and weapons for battle. In Job, calamity is ready for the wicked person's fall.
Interpretation. At Mount Sinai the people were told to be ready for three days before God spoke. Tradition reads this as showing that revelation needs preparation. Job's words are read as a picture of the downfall that waits for the wicked.
