In Jewish tradition
A prophetess is a woman who receives God's word and speaks it. Miriam, Deborah and Isaiah's wife are called by this name. Nehemiah also names Noadiah, a false prophetess who tried to frighten him.
Interpretation. The Rabbis count seven women prophets in Israel, including Miriam, Deborah, Hannah, Abigail, Huldah, Sarah and Esther. Miriam leads the women in song after the sea. Noadiah shows that not every one who claims to prophesy is true.
