In Jewish tradition
In the Torah, "that which hath proceeded out of your mouth" means what you have spoken or promised. In the Prophets and Writings it also means to come forth from someone, as a descendant from the body of a king, or to go on, as Job says he will proceed no further.
Interpretation. The tradition treats a spoken promise as binding. In Sefer Yetzirah all things are said to proceed from the three mother letters. The promise to David that a son will proceed from his body is read as pointing to the line of kings, and later to the Messiah.
