In Jewish tradition
In the garden story it means without clothes, and the first people felt no shame at first, then fear after eating the fruit. In Job it also means poor and without cover, and exposed before God.
Interpretation. Tradition reads their nakedness as a sign of innocence, and the new shame as the first sign that they had lost it. Job says even the nether-world is naked before God, meaning nothing can be hidden from Him.
