In Jewish tradition

At the Exodus the people took their dough before it had risen, which is why matzah is eaten on Passover. Later books show kneading as ordinary home baking, as Tamar and the woman of Endor bake. Hosea uses the baker waiting for dough to rise as a picture of people burning with wrong desires.

Interpretation. Tradition says the people left Egypt so fast that the dough had no time to rise, and matzah recalls that haste. Hosea's baker is read as a comparison for a hidden fire of wickedness that only waits its time.
