In Jewish tradition

Your family and relatives, the people you are born into. In the writings it also means a whole clan or nation, as in "the kindreds of the peoples."

Interpretation. The rabbis saw Abraham's sending to his kindred as showing that the family's values and way of life should continue, and later it was read as a pattern for marrying within the Jewish people. The psalms are read as hoping that all the families of the earth will one day turn to God.
