Examples

Note

Past tense and past participle are both "hurt" (not "hurted"). "Hurt" and "injured" are close; injured is for bodies only. Telling an adult when someone hurts you is not tattling; it is staying safe.

In Jewish tradition

Used much as in everyday English. It means to harm or injure, and it can also mean a borrowed animal that is injured.

Interpretation. Tradition reads the law of borrowed animals as teaching careful responsibility for another person's property. A borrower who was not with the animal when it was hurt had to pay the owner back.
