In the Song at the Sea, God's guiding of the redeemed people to His holy place shows His care for them. In Job, God asks whether a person can guide the Bear (a constellation). In the Psalms and Proverbs, God guides a person with counsel, and a son is told to guide his own heart in the right way.
Interpretation. Jacob crossing his hands is read as knowing the younger Ephraim would become the greater tribe. The psalmist's words are read as trust that God leads the faithful through life. Proverbs is read as teaching self-control, so that a person steers himself toward right living.
