In Jewish tradition

Besides dropping, it can mean to die in battle or to bow down. A fallen face means sadness or anger. It can also mean that a lot lands on someone, as a lot "falls" to a person, or that someone falls sick or falls on his sword.

Interpretation. Falling on the face is read as humble prayer. Cain's fallen face is read as the sign of his jealousy and sin. Saul falling on his sword is read as the sad end of a king who lost God's favor.
