explicit
adjective (explicit); adverb explicitly

- Said clearly and fully, so nobody can be confused, as in «explicit instructions». tree →

In the lessons
In school, teachers give «explicit instructions» and children may be asked for «explicit» answers. In online safety, a label «explicit» on songs, films or websites warns that the content is for adults; children should not watch it and should tell an adult if they see it. In maths, an «explicit formula» gives the answer directly.

- Make it explicit what each number stands for. tree →
