engrave

verb

«engrave» in the English dictionary: in Jewish tradition — its meanings, how the lessons use it, and examples, each with its tree on Mova.

In Jewish tradition

It is used of the gold plate on the high priest's headband, which reads "Holy to the LORD." The names of the tribes were also carved on stones. In Zechariah, God Himself will engrave a stone placed before Joshua the high priest, and remove the land's sin in one day.

Interpretation. Tradition says the plate helped win forgiveness for the people. In Sefer Yetzirah, God "engraves" letters and paths to make the world. Zechariah's engraved stone is read as a sign of God's forgiveness.
