In Jewish tradition

Often means to come near, as in "drew near", or to pull out, as water from a well. In the Psalms and Prophets it also means to draw out anger, pulling a hand from the bosom, or to draw near to battle.

Interpretation. Abraham "drawing near" to question God is read as a model of bold, caring prayer for others. The psalmist's asking whether God will "draw out" His anger is read as a plea for mercy.
