In Jewish tradition

In Sefer Yetzirah it means that God gave a letter rule over something in the world, the year and the body. In the Writings it also means honoured or adorned, as when people are crowned with knowledge, humans with glory and honour, or a king with a wedding crown.

Interpretation. Sefer Yetzirah says God crowned each letter and joined it with others, forming a planet, a month or a body part. Tradition reads this as showing that the same pattern runs through the world, the year and the person. Tradition reads Psalm 8 as showing the high place God gave to human beings.
