In the lessons

In history, monks wrote chronicles like the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle. In English lessons, a chronological report puts events in time order (from the same Greek word «chronos», time).

In Jewish tradition

A written record of events, especially the official record of the kings of Judah and Israel. "Chronicles" is also the name of a book of the Writings.

Interpretation. Tradition holds that these royal records were separate books now lost. The Book of Chronicles retells Israel's history with an emphasis on the Temple and the line of David.
