calque
noun
In Jewish tradition
Here it means to translate the Hebrew word belimah in a word-for-word way.
Interpretation. Some translators explain belimah as meaning "without what," so the sefirot are "numbers with no essence". It is one of several tries to understand this hard word.

Examples
- It might best be calqued as 'whatlessness', meaning 'having no essence', and thus the ‘Ten Sefirot Belimah’ would be the ‘Ten Essenceless/Whatless Numbers'. (Sefer Yetzirah, Sefaria community translation) tree →
