In Jewish tradition
Here bowls are gold vessels for the Tabernacle table, used with the dishes and jars for pouring out offerings of drink. In the later books a bowl is also an ordinary serving dish, and the Temple's bowls of gold and silver are counted.
Interpretation. Tradition counts them among the vessels of the table of showbread in the Tabernacle, and sees the Tabernacle's utensils as models for the later Temple. Zechariah sees a lampstand with a bowl on top and two olive trees beside it, which the tradition reads as a sign of God's help in rebuilding the Temple.
