In the lessons

Used in formal speech and letters: "On behalf of the class, thank you." In school: a pupil speaks on behalf of the class. Phrases: on behalf of, on my behalf, in behalf of (US, for the good of).

Note

Not used alone: always "on behalf of" or "on someone's behalf". Do not mix with "on the part of" (by someone): "a mistake on the part of the teacher" means the teacher made it.
