In Jewish tradition

A banner is a flag or standard raised to show who a group belongs to, or to rally them. In the Song of Songs it shows that love is the one who claims the lover.

Interpretation. The rabbis read the verse "his banner over me is love" as God's love covering Israel. The banner given to those who fear God is read as a sign that they will be gathered and saved.
