In Jewish tradition

In Numbers 32:14 it means to add to, here to pile more of God's anger on top of what is already there.

Interpretation. Moses uses the word to scold the tribes of Reuben and Gad, who wanted to settle east of the Jordan. He says they repeat the sin of the generation of the spies. The tradition reads this as a warning that one generation's sin can be added to by the next.
