In Jewish tradition
It means made sure or fixed as belonging to someone; the field is made certain to the one who redeems it. In Jeremiah, "assured peace" means lasting, safe peace, which the false prophets promised.
Interpretation. The law is about a field given to the sanctuary. The owner may buy it back by adding a fifth, so that the field is secured to him again. Jeremiah's words are read as showing that the false prophets promised peace that God had not given.
