another

determiner, pronoun

«another» in the English dictionary: everyday and in Jewish tradition — its meanings, how the lessons use it, and examples, each with its tree on Mova.

Everyday

  1. Another means one more of the same kind: have another cookie. tree →
  2. Another means a different one: try another way. tree →
  3. As a pronoun, another means some other person or thing: one dog barked at another. tree →

In the lessons

one more of something («another 3 flowers» = add 3), or the other person being compared («how many more one has than another»); in everyday life «one another» (each other), «another time», «another day»

Examples

  • To find how many more one has than another, we subtract the smaller from the bigger. tree →
