Note

Marks one part apart from the others. Trap: «alone» in a work problem gives one worker's rate; together the time is shorter, not the sum of the times. Safety: do not go alone with strangers, and tell an adult where you are going. «Alone» is not the same as «lonely» (sad from being alone).

In Jewish tradition

It often stresses that God alone, with no other god, guided Israel. It also describes Jacob left by himself before he wrestled.

Interpretation. "The LORD alone" is the heart of the Shema, the belief that God is one. The rabbis also read Jacob's being alone as the start of his meeting with the angel who gave him the name Israel.
