adar

«adar» in the English dictionary: in Jewish tradition — its meanings, how the lessons use it, and examples, each with its tree on Mova.

In Jewish tradition

In Sefer Yetzirah, each month is linked with a letter, a sign of the zodiac and a body part; Adar goes with Qoph, Pisces and the spleen.

Interpretation. Adar is the month of Purim, and the rabbis say that when Adar begins, joy increases. Sefer Yetzirah ties it to laughter, matching its link to Qoph.
