abomination

noun

In Jewish tradition

It is a strong word for acts or things that God forbids, such as idol worship, forbidden relations and cheating with weights. The Hebrew word is to'evah.

Interpretation. Rabbis taught that to'evah marks the most serious wrongs, and they often saw in it a warning about how Israel should live apart from the ways of Canaan.
